Brad has more than 32 years of work experience in the energy industry, where he rose to senior executive roles with Imperial Oil and ExxonMobil, leading large, dynamic business units with revenues exceeding $20 billon. He has strong functional expertise in sales, marketing, finance, and strategic planning as well as international business experience spanning the globe.
In 2018, Brad founded The Merkel Group, a firm dedicated to delivering strategy and leadership solutions to entrepreneurs, senior executives, and advancing leaders who are seeking to strengthen their personal impact and achieve breakthrough business results.
Brad is a certified professional coach, accredited by both the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (IPEC) and the International Coaching Federation (ICF). He is a certified Master Practitioner for the Energy Leadership Index (ELI) Assessment.
Brad holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and Management from McMaster University as well as a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Governors at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.
Brad and his wife Tatiana reside in the Woodlands, Texas, along with their youngest children Daniel and Yasmine.
